GREG DYKE SPEAKS AT HOUNSLOW CHAMBER’S ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING The Annual General Meeting of Hounslow Chamber was held on Thursday, 11th March at Fullers Brewery and was the best attended in recent years. Greg Dyke, Chairman of Brentford Football Club, was the guest speaker. He gave a most entertaining speech on his journey from Hayes Grammar School, where he less than excelled himself, to becoming the Director General of the BBC. He also spoke of his Chairmanship of Brentford FC and the future plans at the Club. The new President, Hanif Khan, spoke of the importance of local business as being the strength and heart of the local community and the desirability of giving something back to the local community. He would like to encourage business enterprise in the young along with generating charitable initiatives that benefit young and old alike. “Hounslow Chamber has a membership that has enthusiasm and considerable business talent. We are a great forum for discussion, exchange of ideas and fresh, go-getting initiatives. We are keen to encourage companies not yet members of the Chamber to join us and be part of our business community. “ Earlier in the meeting Gurpreet Singh had stood down as President and Hanif elected as President. Gurpreet reported that the last year has been another good one for the Chamber, with 44 events organised. Gurpreet was asked to speak at a Business Link in London regional meeting as they acknowledge us as being one of the most successful and active local Chambers of Commerce. Hanif has been a Committee member since 2009 and has been an award winning professional in TV broadcasting and video production for many years. He is totally committed to the very best in programme making and has an envied reputation amongst his fellow professionals. He works with some of the best in the business, from directors to video editors, covering sports, politics and lifestyle programme making. His corporate work is a significant part of his personal reputation and comprehensive business portfolio. Although busily immersed in video production at his media company, Video Shoot Productions, Hanif ensures he finds time to be involved with his local community. He enjoys encouraging young talent to be creative and what better way than to introduce them to film making and video production. "It draws out their creativity as well as encouraging them to realise the values of teamwork," says Hanif having himself established solid relationships with schools and youth groups. "As part of the business community I feel we have a responsibility to care for our locality, encourage innovation and community spirit whilst ensuring that our youth has a true sense of direction, the values of fair play, honest ambition and respect for others.” Hanif Khan continues to look for ways to encourage the local community to grow and survive, fuelled by his personal beliefs and strongly driven by his desire that a community's successes come from residents and businesses working together, all age groups and all cultures. One of Hanif’s first duties was to thank Gurpreet for all his hard work and dedication over the past year and to say how pleased he is that he has been elected as Vice-President so his expertise will not be lost. He is looking forward to his year as President.
